[livejournal.com profile] realmofthemuse Honesty

Honesty may be the best policy, but it's important to remember that apparently, by elimination, dishonesty is the second-best policy. - George Carlin

Honesty is always the best policy, especially when it conceals the greater dishonesty. I lie all the time, but it is rare that I will lie outright. Not like Harkness. His whole life is a lie, stealing the name and record of another man, pretending to be him. Hiding himself through the decades, never growing older and concealing things about himself from his team. No, I'm not dishonest like him, or like Miss Cooper who lies nightly to her boyfriend as she lay in the arms of a lover.

I find it is much more productive to get what I desire by using the truth, that is what manipulating is all about, giving people what they want to be true, and when they fail to be tempted to my desires, I make the lie become truth. I turn dishonesty into honesty.

Oh yes, my dears, truth and honesty is a far more dangerous weapon than lies and dishonesty can ever be.
