ROTM: 1.77.2 Churchill quote
I am ready to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is prepared for the ordeal of meeting me is another matter. Winston Churchill.
Churchill, the greatest Prime Minister Britain has ever known. He got us through the Blitz and through the war. He bolstered us to "fight them on the beaches" and to honour "the Few who gave so much." He was the right person at the right time. He embodied that British fighting spirit that showed Jerry what was what.
I do wonder what did happen when he died and he went to face Him. Surely, you didn't think he came my way...although that would have been very interesting. I can just imagine him blustering up to the Gates, cigar still in one hand and a drink in the other, knocking sharply and demanding to know when dinner is served. And of course, the man's great wit. I do wonder if He shared Winnie's sense of humour, and I do hope he used some of his famed put downs on Him or the Angels. Oh to be a metaphorical fly on the wall then!
As to myself, of course I have met my Maker. I met him long before He even though up your existence, and I will meet Him once more. When it's time.
